In an effort to shake up his team and give them a jolt down 2-1 to the Canadiens, Bruins coach Claude Julien has decided to play Matt Fraser in Game 4 in Montreal.
Fraser was called up from Providence earlier in the day and Justin Florek, who played six playoffs games, was sent down to make room on the roster. Fraser will be playing in his first NHL playoff game.
Jordan Caron, who has played in seven playoffs games, was a healthy scratch. Fraser is expected to suit up on third line with Carl Soderberg and Loui Eriksson.
The 23-year-old from Red Deer, Alberta was acquired by the Bruins from the Stars in last summer’s trade that sent Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley to Dallas. He played 14 games for the Bruins this season, scoring two goals.
In 44 games in Providence this year, Fraser played in 44 games and scored 20 goals with 10 assists and 34 penalty minutes. He also scored three goals in five playoff games for Providence in their Calder Cup Playoffs first round series against the Springfield Falcons.
