After backing up Tim Thomas for six straight games, Manny Fernandez is in the Boston net, making his first start since March 8 in New York City.

P. J. Axelsson and Mark Stuart, both of whom opted out of the morning's optional workout, are in uniform.

Shane Hnidy (D) is scratched for the seventh straight game. The reliable veteran has been a spare part ever since the March 4 acquisition of Steve Montador from the Ducks for Petteri Nokelainen. Byron Bitz is also on the sidelines, allowing Steve Montador to play right wing on a line on the fourth line with Shawn Thronton and Stephane Yelle.

The lines to start the night:

Axelsson-Marc Savard-Blake Wheeler
Mark Recchi-Patrice Bergeron-Chuck Kobasew
Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Michael Ryder
Thornton- Yelle-Montador

Defense:

Zdeno Chara-Aaron Ward
Andrew Ference-Dennis Wideman
Stuart-Matt Hunwick

4:01 -- Nikolai Kulemin, after his mid-slot wrister is blocked by Andrew Ference, pokes home a 15-footer for the 1-0 lead after Manny Fernandez roams from crease and misplays a poke check of his own.

8:50 -- Michael Ryder fends off Ian White at the top of the crease, curls behind the net and snaps in backhander near the right post that beats Justin Pogge up under the crossbar. Bruins, 2-1, on Ryder's 26th goal this season.

10:24 -- Penalty -- Stephane Yelle, tripping, 2:00.

12:04 -- John Mitchell, parked off Fernandez's doorstep on a power play, sweeps puck into open right side after Ian White's blast off left point is deflected in the middle by Jason Blake. Tied, 2-2.

17:00 -- Ponikarovsky nails in 35-foot wrister off left wing, beating Fernandez with a clear shot on the short side, after Leafs transition puck up ice on a Kobasew giveaway.

1919 - Penalty -- Jeff Finger, tripping, 2:00.

19:33 -- Mark Recchi, parked in slot on power play, tips home Matt Hunwick's one-time slapper off the left point. It is Recchi's 18th goal this season, his fifth in a Bruins uniform.

End of 20:00 -- Tied, 3-3; Shots on Goal -- Toronto, 14; Boston, 12.
