The NFL is mostly serious business, but training camp is a time not only to get ready for the season, but for players to come together toward a common goal. Rookies meet the veterans whose jobs they are trying to take, and veterans shoulder the responsibility of teaching the newbies the ways of the NFL world.
To that end, traditions are upheld and other methods of team bonding are employed to stir the team chemistry pot. Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant caused a stir when he refused to carry the pads of the veterans at his position, a longstanding unwritten rule of training camp.
