Well, that didn't take long.
Patriots WR Julian Edelman -- who tossed a 51-yard touchdown pass to fellow wideout Danny Amendola in the third quarter of the Patriots 35-31 win over the Ravens Saturday -- is selling a t-shirt online paying tribute to the touchdown throw.
"Ladies and Edelmen, 'The Pass' shirt," reads the caption on Edelman's Facebook page.
For $29.99, you can haul one in yourself.
The TD pass to Amendola was Edelman’s first NFL pass attempt. It was the first touchdown pass thrown by a Patriots player other than a quarterback since kicker Adam Vinatieri threw a four-yard scoring pass to Troy Brown at St. Louis on Nov. 7, 2004.
“The coach dialed up the double pass," Edelman said. "We’ve had it in for a little bit and finally got it called, and we all saw that the coverage [that] we wanted was going to be there, and we were able to execute the play.”
The play tied the game at 28-28 and was Edelman’s first NFL pass attempt. It was also the first touchdown pass thrown by a Patriots player other than a quarterback since kicker Adam Vinatieri threw a four-yard scoring pass to Troy Brown at St. Louis on Nov. 7, 2004.
Edelman -- who played quarterback in college at Kent State -- was asked if he was surprised the double pass was called.
“No. You’ve got to unload everything you’ve got to win against a team like that – the Baltimore Ravens," Edelman said. "They played a tough game. Our coaches, they’ve got the aggressiveness to call that.”
Edelman was asked if he has lobbied the coaches for the double pass play to be called.
“I just kind of sit back and do my job," Edelman said. "I don’t throw it as good as I used to. I can’t lobby that much.”
Edelman joins David Patten and Gino Cappelletti as the only wide receivers in Patriots history to throw touchdown passes. Edelman is the only New England wide receiver to throw a touchdown pass in the playoffs.
Edelman was asked how often the Patriots practice the play.
“Once every couple weeks, but I practice in the back yard with Danny [Amendola] all the time," Edelman joked. "We’ve been secretly practicing that for a while.”
Amendola joked about the trick play as well.
"Me and Julian have been practicing that for about five years," Amendola joked. "It was a play we had in the books for a little while now, but it ended up working out."
Edelman talked about what went through his mind when the double pass was called.
“Let’s just go out there and just execute," he said. "We’ve hit in practice a couple times. Practice execution becomes game reality. We saw it in practice, we did it right, and we were able to do it again.”
