Boston College’s spring football drills got a little bumpier this week when offensive line coach Jim Turner apparently decided to leave his alma mater.

According to several school sources, Turner, a former captain of the football team who had coaching stints at Northeastern, Louisiana Tech, Harvard, Temple, and Delaware before being hired by new Eagles coach Jeff Jagodzinski, cleaned out his office Wednesday night and was not at practice Thursday.

‘‘He hasn’t officially resigned yet,’’ said a BC source familiar with the situation. ‘‘He’s taking some time to think things over.’’

But when asked if he expected Turner to return, the source said, ‘‘Probably not.’’

Turner’s apparent departure was the culmination of a tumultuous week in the BC football offices. Earlier in the week, assistant director of football operations Jill Hegarty and recruiting assistant Nick Uhlenhopp resigned. Hegarty left to take a job in the private sector, while Uhlenhopp departed to take the job of football operations at Western Kentucky.

Turner’s resignation would cause the most angst for Jagodzinski, who was hired in December after Tom O’Brien left to take the head job at North Carolina State.

Not only are there new coaches for the players to get adjusted to, a new offensive system is being installed by Jagodzinski and new offensive coordinator Steve Logan.
