Triples are the most exciting play in baseball because they're so unexpected. It usually means the ball was hit well or somehow rolled round and meanwhile the runner is burning around the bases and you're trying to watch the throw at the same time.

The Red Sox have two triples this season. Both are by Kevin Youkilis, who is not exactly a speedy guy. The first one came Opening Day and the second one last night. Youk, by the way, had one all last season.

David Ortiz, of all people, has had at least one triple every season from 2001-09. The clock is ticking for this season. Maybe it'll come tonight.

Now that would be something to see.
