In a fake online story that was posted to phony web pages purporting to be entertainment news sites, Wayne Knight, the actor best known as Seinfeld's annoying neighbor, was reported to have been killed a car wreck.

Those "reports" were then shared to social networks, and in no time, the latest celebrity death hoax had taken off.

A Twitter flood ensued, but a short time later the actor himself, via his verified Twitter account, informed us all that he was just fine, thank you very much:

Then, after he realized he was "trending," he added this:

He's by no means the first celebrity incorrectly reported as dead. Celine Dion made appearances in New York City the day after her death was reported in 2013.

Singer Justin Bieber was falsely reported to have passed away more than once -- most recently in January.

And rapper Eminem has also been the subject of multiple fake death (and fake near death) reports.
