Free tickets available to Boston Pops, James Taylor concert

Free tickets are available to a concert featuring the Boston Pops and James Taylor scheduled for next Wednesday, July 28 at UMass-Boston.

The concert is being offered by UMass-Boston and Boston 2004, the local group helping to coordinate convention activities, as a way of saying thanks to the city for hosting the Democratic National Convention.

Tickets are now available at the Boston Public Library and all library branches.

Tickets are also available at YMCAs and Boys & Girls Clubs in Boston neighborhoods during the regular hours of operation for the clubs.

In addition ticket ambassadors will distribute tickets to the public on Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25 at the following locations in Boston neighborhoods from 1p.m. to 5p.m.:

--Stop & Shop, 88 Allstate Road, Dorchester

--Stop & Shop, 1025 Truman Parkway, Hyde Park

--Stop & Shop, 301 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain

--Johnnie’s Foodmaster, 50 Austin St., Charlestown

--CVS/pharmacy, 427 Washington Street, Brighton

--MBTA Stop, Park Street Station (Red Line, Green Line)

--MBTA Stop, Harvard Square (Red Line)

--MBTA Stop, Mass Ave (Orange Line)

--MBTA Stop, Ruggles (Orange Line)

· Ticket distribution points near UMass-Boston are also being confirmed. More details about these locations will be released later this week and they will be listed on UMass-Boston’s website www.umb.edu.

Some 20,000 people are expected to attend the concert which is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

The performance site on Dorchester Bay will feature a direct link to the live convention activities on the floor of the FleetCenter that evening.
