Battle on Lexington Green
Minutemen marching
Patriots Day honors the first battle of the American Revolution, which took place in Concord and Lexington April 19, 1775. Today, re-enactors gathered on Lexington Battle Green dressed in British "redcoat" uniforms or more motley "Minuteman" outfits. A Minuteman's account of the day's events begins with young William Diamond beating his drum to summon the Americans to the green.
