The following is a list by town of some pick-your-own strawberry farms. Many supply containers for an additional fee; at most places you can use your own. Call ahead to ask about conditions and whether berries are ripe. Children should be supervised at all farms. Directions are from Boston. For more information go to

AMESBURY Cider Hill Farm, 45 Fern Ave. (978-388-5525). Take I-95N to exit 58B (Amesbury, Route 110W). Take a right on Elm St. At the lights, follow signs. Daily 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Children welcome.

BERLIN Indian Head Farm, 232 Pleasant St. (978-838-2942). Take I-90W to 495N. Take exit 25 (I-290 West) to exit 25 (Berlin). Go one mile toward Berlin Center and farm is on the right. Daily 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. but call for picking hours as they may vary. Children welcome.

CHELMSFORD Parlee's Farm, 135 Pine Hill Road (978-256-2859). From Chelmsford Center, take Route 110 toward Littleton/Westford; go 2 miles. Right at the lights, follow sign. Daily 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. Children welcome.

CONCORD Verrill Farm, 11 Wheeler Road (978-369-4494). Route 2W; after you pass Route 126, take the first left. Go about 2 miles to Wheeler Road. Daily 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Children welcome.

DANVERS Connors Farm Stand, 30 Valley Road (Route 35) (978-777-1245). Route 1N to Route 62E to Route 35N. Daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

EAST BRIDGEWATER C.N. Smith Farm, 325 South St. (508-378-2270). Route 24 to Route 106E. Turn onto South Street (near Old Colony YMCA). Sun- Mon 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Tues- Sat 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

EAST TAUNTON Spring Rain Farm, 692 Caswell St. (508-824-3393). I-93S to Route 24S to exit 13A (follow sign for Route 44E and Cape Cod). After crossing over Route 24, immediate right onto Orchard Street. Follow Orchard, which becomes South Street, go 1.8 miles, through zigzag intersection to Liberty Street. Left at stop sign onto Caswell. Bear left at fork; farm is .3 miles on right. Tues-Sun 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

FRAMINGHAM-SHERBORN Sunshine Farm, 41 Kendall Ave., Sherborn (508-655-5022). I-90W to exit 13 (routes 9 and 135). Take Speen Street to the end. At Framingham-Sherborn-Natick town line, stay right onto Kendall Avenue. On left. Daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

GEORGETOWN Wheeler Brook Farm, 57 Jewett St. (978-352-8289). I-95N to Route 133. Head toward Georgetown center. Take a right onto North Street, go 1.8 miles, bear right onto Jewett Street. Daily 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

HAVERHILL Rogers Spring Hill Farm, 133 Neck Road (978-372-4780). I-495N to exit 48. Right at lights; second left onto Neck Road. Daily 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Children welcome.

IPSWICH Marini Farm, 259 Linebrook Road (978-356-0430). Route 1N to Ipswich, right onto Linebrook Road. Go 1.3 miles, farm on left. Daily 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Children welcome.

IPSWICH Russell Orchards, 143 Argilla Road (978-356-5366) or Route 128N to Route 1A north, to Route 133 toward Essex. Follow signs. Daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

NORTH ANDOVER Smolak Farms, 315 South Bradford St. (978-682-6332). I-95N to exit 53B (Route 97). Turn right from the off-ramp, left at Boxford Village, first right onto Ipswich Road (Boxford). Follow for 6 miles. South Bradford Street is on the right. Daily 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. Children welcome.

NORTHBOROUGH Tougas Family Farm, 234 Ball St. (508-393-6406) or I-90W to I-495N to exit 25B. Follow I-290W to exit 24 (Church Street), turn toward Boylston, and follow signs. Schedule will vary for the first few weeks of picking season. Children welcome.

NORTHBRIDGE Foppema's Farm, 1605 Hill St. (508-234-6711 or 508-234-7992). Route 146 south about 10 miles to Central Turnpike exit. Head east toward Northbridge for about 2 miles. Right at flashing light, farm is on right. Mon-Sat 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

PEPPERELL Kimball Fruit Farm, 184 Hollis St. (Route 122 North on Mass-N.H. border) (978-433-9751). Route 3N to exit 5W. Route 111 west about 6 miles to blinking light. Right at light. Go 3 miles. Farm on left. Daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

SHARON Ward's Berry Farm, 614 South Main St. (781-784-3600). I-95S to exit 8. Go a half mile east toward Sharon. Farm on right. Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat-Sun 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

TYNGSBOROUGH Parlee Farms, 95 Farwell Road (978-649-3854). Route 3 North to exit 35 (Route 113 Tyngsboro). Left onto Route 113 and proceed 1 mile to the light. Left onto Middlesex Road, first right onto Farwell Road. Parlee Farms is 1 mile down on the right. Tues-Sun 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.

WESTBOROUGH Nourse Farm, 70 Nourse St. (508-366-2644). I-90W to Framingham, Route 9 exit. Left onto Lyman. Take Route 30 through Westborough Center for 2 1/2 miles; it will eventually turn into Nourse St. Follow signs. Daily 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Children welcome.

WEST BOXFORD Ingaldsby Farm, 14 Washington St. (978-352-2813). I-95N to Route 97 to Georgetown. Take Route 133W to Washington Street. Daily 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Children welcome.

WESTON Land's Sake, corner of Newton, Wellesley, and School streets (781-893-1162). Route 128N to Route 20W. At first light, turn left onto School Street. Farm on left at Newton Street. Daily 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Children welcome.
