Yeah, yeah, we know that everything is retro now and that every new band that comes along sounds like X, Y, and Z from back in the day. But when you make a record as transcendent as "In Ghost Colours," the second effort from neo-new wave band Cut Copy of Melbourne, Australia, who cares if you're a throwback? Nothing really matters but the undeniable power of the music. Songs like the "Lights & Music," with its giant tension and release crescendo and unstoppable beat, had the packed crowd at the band's last date at the Paradise dancing in one giant wave of unbridled enthusiasm, something we'd never before seen at a Boston show. The band returns to the scene tonight. 18+ 8 p.m. $25. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave., Boston. 617-931-2000. www.ticketmaster.com [L. O.]
