The Draper Pool in West Roxbury will close for about a year while the facility undergoes $3.5-million in renovations, city officials announced.
The building will close after regular operating hours on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Draper Pool staff and much of its programming will be hosted at the West Roxbury Educational Complex Pool until the construction is complete, city officials said. Draper Pool memberships will also be honored at the 14 other pools run by the Boston Centers for Youth and Families.
The project at the Draper Pool facility will include upgrades to mechanical systems, pool area and locker rooms as well as the exterior and parking lot, said an announcement from Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Daphne Griffin, chief of human services and executive director of BCYF.
