Starting Friday, Nov. 23, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society at Elm Bank Reservation is holding its Festival of Trees in Wellesley.
All are invited to stroll among the decorated trees in the Carriage House at Mass Hort's headquarters at the Gardens at Elm Bank, 900 Washington St.
According to Mass Hort, all trees, including the Giving Tree, which is full of gift certificates valued at approximately $1,500 in total, are raffled to lucky winners, with the proceeds going to support Mass Hort.
The two-week Festival kicks off with an evening of holiday cheer at the Preview Party on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. where visitors can enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeurves among the trees. The cost to attend is $25 per person.
On Thursday, Nov. 29, the Festival will have its holiday shopping fair from 4 to 8 p.m., with local craft, artisan food, and fine art vendors, as well as its AuthorFest, where authors will discuss their books and hold book signings during the same time frame. Cost to attend is included in the Festival's admission fee.
The Wellesley Choral Society will perform on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Visitors can create beautiful holiday wreaths and swags to take home for the holiday season at the Wreath Workshop also on Saturday, Dec. 1 starting at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $45 for Mass Hort members and $55 for non-members.
The Festival will be offering winter holiday rides on a horse-drawn cart by Iron Shoe Farms at the Gardens at Elm Bank on November 23, 24, and 25, and December 1 and 2 from noon to 6 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.
For children, large and small, a Christmas Pajama Story Hour will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mass Hort's children's educator, Kathy Gariepi, will read classic Christmas and holiday tales in her pajamas and she encourages visitors to wear theirs. Stories will include "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," "The Littlest Christmas Tree," and "The Grinch that Stole Christmas."
Santa will visit on Sunday, Dec. 2. Cost is included with the price of admission.
The Festival of Trees opens Friday, Nov. 23 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 8. The Festival is open Nov. 23 and all weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
General admission is $8 and children under 12 are free. Children ages 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
