The Wellesley Health Department has partnered with Newton-Wellesley Hospital and FiVi Health Networks to create a new active and healthy living website called HealthyWellesley.org, which will go live on Oct. 15.
The town is celebrating its launch with a Harvest Your Health Festival planned for Nov. 4.
The goal of the website is to support new and existing community programs with web technology and to encourage residents to be more active and connect with each other around a healthier lifestyle, according to Cheryl Lefman, Community Health Coordinator for the Health Department.
The website will include health articles and videos, social networking, a community calendar, online exercise tracking, training plans, meal plans and recipes, health goals tracking and a community blog.
The Harvest Your Health Festival, planned for a Sunday with no Patriots game scheduled, is sponsored by the Health and Recreation Departments.
It begins at noon with a trail walk that starts and ends at Warren Park. The festivities include Yoga, games for kids, karate for kids, Zumba, and healthy cooking. There will be health screenings by Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Wellesley Health Department, informational displays, and farmers market vendors.
The festival runs from noon to 3:30 p.m. It will be run out of the Warren Building at 90 Washington Street.
