Putting the Well in Wellesley: Health Festival to celebrate interactive health website launch planned for November 4
Wellesley's new community health website has gone live, and to celebrate, the town is holding a Harvest Your Health Festival on Sunday, Nov. 4.
The website is an interactive portal that allows Wellesley residents 18 and older to register and log health goals and fitness achievements. Users can share their achievements with other Wellesley-ites and round up like-minded exercise enthusiasts for group activities with the social networking features.
It's a project of the Wellesley Health Department, the Newton-Wellesley Hospital and the FiVi Health Network, and it's designed to get residents up and moving. So is the Sunday festival.
The Harvest Your Health Festival will include a performance by Brazilian percussion band Bloco Afrobrazil accompanied by samba dancers from the Samba Viva dance troupe. There will be a trail walk and activities for kids. The Newton-Wellesley Hospital and the Wellesley Health Department will offer health screenings, and vendors from the Farmer's Market will be there.
The festival is sponsored by the Wellesley Health Department and the Wellesley Recreation Department.
