The Wellesley Police have released the following Boston Marathon Road Closure Information:
The 116th running of the Boston Marathon will take place this year on Monday, April 16, 2012.
Due to the race, the following roads will be closed at 8;45 AM:
Central Street (Rt. 135) from the Natick line to Grove Street at Wellesley Square.
Washington Street (Rt. 16) from Grove Street (Wellesley Square) to the Newton city line.
The race route essentially divides Wellesley in half. Once the road is closed, no vehicle will be allowed to cross over the route, or leave any parking lots on the route until the race is finished and the road opened. The only way to 'cross' over the race route is to utilize Route 9.
Additionally, there will be no parking on the above streets on Monday, April 16 prior to, and during the race. Any vehicle found parked on the route will be towed. No parking signs will be posted.
There will also be no parking on the following streets prior to, and during the race: No parking signs will be posted as well.
Linden Street from Weston Road to Crest Road
The road should be open to traffic at approximately 2:30 PM, and will open in segments, starting at the Natick line and moving east. This website will be updated with current road closure information. The Wellesley Police Department will also be sending out community notification alerts regarding road closures, and posting live information on Twitter and Facebook throughout the day.
