A Watertown historian picked up a few moments of fame Monday.
Marilynne K. Roach, Historical Society of Watertown president and Watertown Historical Commission board member, was featured on Monday's episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to talk about her new book, Six Women of Salem: The Untold Story of the Accused and Their Accusers in the Salem Witch Trials.
In her interview with Stewart, Roach noted that she felt "cynical" towards other people and human nature after researching the Salem witch trials in depth over the years.
Stewart still managed to have fun with Roach, asking her jovially if she was a witch at one point, but still seemed fascinated overall by Roach's findings.
"You really do look at some of the fundamental mechanics and principles of this, and you see it in our dealings today, not to this extreme, but the same mechanics of it emotionally," Stewart said.
