A Waltham nursing home is one of four local facilities that owe a collective $132,000 in restitution and penalties for allegedly failing to pay terminated employees their vacation wages, according to Attorney General Martha Coakley's office.
Meadow Green Nursing Home, Inc. in Waltham will owe an undisclosed portion of the $132,000 after a former employee of Ellis Nursing Homes, Inc. in Norwood said she was not paid her earned vacation time. The allegations sparked an investigation, which found a total of 209 employees at four locations were owed their vacation pay, according to a statement from the attorney general's office.
Grove Manor Estates, Inc. in Braintree, and Glen at Grove Manor, Inc. in Braintree were also penalized.
The nursing homes involved will pay restitution to all 209 former employees, along with a penalty to the Commonwealth.
All of the companies fully cooperated with the attorney general's investigation, the statement said.
“Failure to pay wages is a violation of Massachusetts law that must be enforced to protect employees who earned their pay,” Coakley said. “We are pleased that this settlement will bring restitution to the former employees who were affected by the actions of these companies.”
