Waltham city clerk Rosario "Russ" Malone was re-elected for another three-year term as the city's primary record keeper by a unanimous City Council vote Monday night.
One by one, a roll call of all present city councilors were met with a firm "Rosario C. Malone" as they cast their verbal ballot for the long-time city clerk.
Malone, a Waltham native, was first elected as city clerk in 2001, after he served as a city councilor.
"I’d like to thank you all for the vote of confidence," Malone said at the meeting, as he received congratulatory flowers and hugged his family. "It’s an honor to represent Waltham as city clerk."
Malone said how proud he was to serve in his hometown, noting that Waltham has also seen improved access to city-held documents under his watch.
"Our records are more transparent than they have ever been, and we are more compliant than ever before in the state’s eyes," he said.
