Gore Place, the historic 1806 mansion in Waltham, will offer a tour on March 9 that explores life before the electric light while offering views of the legendary home.
“People really enjoy seeing the house at night," said Thom Roach, director of public programs. "It’s quite a different experience. And the information about living by candlelight is fascinating stuff. For example, a home like this might have burned a ton of candles per year."
Led by a guide in period clothing, the Full Moon Tour - titled "Living in the Dark" - will begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Guests are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Admission is $14, $10 children 5 to 12. Capacity is limited. For advanced tickets, call: (781) 894-2798.
Gore Place is located at 52 Gore Street, just off Rte. 20 (Main Street) near the Waltham/Watertown line.
