Habanero's Mexican Kitchen will open in Waltham by the end of August, replacing Mango Tango at 484 Moody Street, according to restaurant employees.
Restaurant representative Hannah Kempski described the 54-seat restaurant as a creative, upscale/casual dine-in establishment with a fun and lively atmosphere.
Kempski said the new decor includes high end finishes, a brand new custom wood bar, and new tables and chairs.
Habanero's will feature "creative spins on fresh, classic Mexican dishes as well as one-of-a-kind cocktails" at the in-house tequila bar, Kempski said.
Entrees include Mexican staples like burritos ($8), tacos ($8.50 for three), and enchiladas ($9.50), while also branching out to high-brow dishes like grilled mahi mahi ($13.95) and a lobster pasta toss ($12.95).
Other dishes include hamburgers ($7.95 to $8.95), quesadillas ($8.50 to $9.50), and a kids menu for children under 12 years old ($5.95 for entree, chips and a drink).
While restaurant managers have not yet planned a grand opening event, Kempski said the restaurant is building a strong social media network on Facebook and Twitter to inform friends and followers of special events and giveaways.
Kempski said owner Terry Knight chose to open in Waltham because he thinks the business community is diverse and building momentum.
"We are providing a one-of-a-kind dining destination with great food and fresh cocktails," said Knight. "Our focus is on quality and service, providing a fun and lively atmopshere for families and professionals in the neighborhood and beyond. I am excited about being a member of the Waltham business community."
The restaurant will have off-street parking behind the building, with a public parking lot situated across the street. It is accessible by MBTA bus lines.
Scheduled hours of operation are Tuesday through Wednesday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. through 1 a.m.
The restaurant will be closed Mondays.
