Though Groundhog Day is Wednesday, Waltham residents will get a taste of it Tuesday in anticipation of yet another storm and yet another snow emergency, which the mayor said will start at noon.
All cars must be removed from roads until the storm wraps up. People can park their vehicles in municipal and school lots for free throughout the storm.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch on Monday afternoon saying the region will get walloped by two rounds of winter weather that will start Tuesday morning. By Tuesday night, snow accumulation will be between 4 inches and 8 inches.
Then, early Wednesday morning the snow will start up again before changing over to sleet and freezing rain. The mix is predicted to tax traveling and power lines and burden already-compromised structures that have already suffered from the weight of snow and ice.
