Local groups are making sure parents and families have a safe and sober place to enjoy the annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
On Sunday, the South Boston Association of Non-Profits and South Boston CAN Reduce Underage Drinking are hosting three family zones in the neighborhood.
-- The Action Center: 424 West Broadway.
-- Old Colony Development: Corner of Dorchester Avenue and Rev. Burke Street.
-- The Laboure Center: 275 West Broadway.
The zones will have snacks, arts and crafts, and plenty of other fun activities.
All families looking to take part in the Family Zones must check in at the registration table to get a stamp for the day.
The groups will also be sponsoring a free family photo event Saturday for youths looking to get their picture taken with Big Bird, Dora the Explore, or Elmo.
The photo-shoot will be held at Julie's Learning Center located at 133 Dorchester St. from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The event is free, but participants must bring their own cameras.
