The Boston Police Department’s District C-6 office, which covers South Boston, saw a jump in robberies, burglaries and aggravated assault compared to this time last year.
From Jan. 1 – Feb. 12, according to data provided by BPD, the neighborhood saw eight robberies and attempted robberies in 2011 and 16 in 2012. There was also an inrease in aggravated assaults with 23 in 2012, compared to 16 in 2011. The district also saw 14 burglaries and attempted burglaries in 2012, a slight increase from 12 in 2011.
Larceny and attempted larceny saw a drop, with 122 reported for the same period in 2011, compared to 96 in 2012. Vehicle theft also dropped with nine incidents in 2012, compared to 12 in 2011.
Rape and attempted rape remained the same this year with two reported during the same periods in 2012 and 2011. There have also been no homicides so far this year in South Boston, which is consistent with 2011.
