The Knights of Columbus of South Boston are making sure more than 80 local children would be warmer this winter.
Over the weekend, the Pere Marquette Council of the Catholic fraternal organization gathered coats from South Boston community groups, institutions, and churches for local students.
“The Knights of Columbus, Pere Marquette Council, has been a key part of the South Boston community for many years,” Sister Maryadele Robinson, director of Labouré Child Care Center, said in a statement.
The Knights organization, which boasts more than 200 members in South Boston, distributed the coats to children at local parishes including St. Vincent De Paul and St. Brigid's, as well as the Catholic Charities Labouré Center in South Boston, Boston Catholic Charities, and Peruvian Catholic charities.
