The owner of a local ornamental iron works company will run for a spot on the Board of Aldermen.
Elio LoRusso announced plans to run for the Ward 1 seat on his website.
"Many exciting things are happening in East Somerville - from the Assembly Square development to the re-vamping of East Broadway - and Elio believes he has the relationships and experience to deliver solid leadership to Ward 1 during these pivotal times," a statement on the site said.
LoRusso owns and runs Somerville Ornamental Iron Works, and he has lived in the ward his entire life, according to his bio.
The seat is currently held by Maureen Bastardi, a former School Committee member who was appointed to the seat after William Roche resigned to become the city's director of personnel. Bastardi was recommended for the open seat by Roche, and she was appointed by the aldermen.
