Somerville city records dating back to the mid-1800s can now be accessed online thanks to an initiative by the Somerville Public Library, according to an announcement from the city.
Annual reports from 1843 to 1925 have been converted to digital form and can be accessed via Somerville Public Library's Internet archive, the announcement said. The conversion was done through a partnership with Boston Public Library and Digital Commonwealth, a service for historical documents, the announcement said.
“It is really exciting that we can offer these kinds of primary resources for researchers, teachers, students, and Somerville residents," Maria Carpenter, Somerville library director, said in a statement. "Residents have been asking for more electronic materials and we are pleased to be able to offer this rich content.”
