Somerville High School announced Friday it was selected by telecom provider Verizon as one of six schools to participate in a technology trial.
The selection comes with a $70,000 grant to purchase new equipment, including tablet computers on which teachers and students can receive the media.
The service is expected to provide access to interactive lessons, activities, videos, and webinars, in addition to resources, educational games, and resources for students.
The platform, Thinkfinity, will be used by science and math teachers to better connect students with material.
To celebrate the award, Verizon officials and educators with an affiliation to the project are expected to meet at the school and tour the facilities Tuesday, Jan. 18.
