City officials will convene next week to unveil plans to rezone Porter Square to incorporate mixed-use development at gateways in the area, according to a statement by the city.
The Sept. 14 meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. in the Fohn F. Kennedy Elementary School Cafeteria, at 5 Cherry Street.
It will be the sixth in a visioning series for the square and its surrounding streets, concluding more than two years of discussion and debate that began in May 2009 with a report by the city of resident suggestions, concerns, and ideas for the square.
Included in the study's consideration were Wilson Square, Somerville Avenue, Air Rights for MBTA properties, White Street, Elm Street, and Mossland Street.
Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, along with Aldermen Maryann Heuston of Ward 2 and Sean O'Donovan of Ward 5, will speak.
