The Learn, Live, Love Cancer Outreach Organization, a Scituate-based nonprofit that provides money to women and families whose lives are touched by cancer, will benefit from a staged reading of a comedy, “The MOMologues: Pink Ribbon Overdose,’’ at the Company Theatre in Norwell this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
The show was held last fall at the Hard Rock Café in Boston to benefit the Ellie Fund, another nonprofit providing support to cancer victims and their families. This year’s show features Boston-area women who have all been touched by breast cancer, and was created by Scituate writers Lisa Rafferty, Jane McGovern, and Pam Ahl, who are all cancer survivors. Ahl and Rafferty, a freelance theater director who teaches part time at Hingham’s Notre Dame Academy, cofounded Learn, Live, Love.
The cast this year again stars WCVB-TV Channel 5 newswomen Bianca de la Garza, Susan Wornick, and Karen Holmes Ward; actress Erica McDermott of Scituate (she was one of the sisters in “The Fighter’’); and Ellie Fund executive director Julie Nations.
Learn, Live, Love was established in October 2005 upon the completion of Ahl’s treatment for breast cancer, with her vision being to reach out and support other women undergoing treatment.
Tickets for the event Wednesday are $25 for general seating and $35 for VIP seating, the latter including admission to an after-show coffee-and-dessert party with the cast.
