There's going to be a jolly special guest at this afternoon's Winter Farmers' Market at Old Town Hall in Salem.
Santa Claus will be present from 3 to 6 p.m. to hear Christmas wish lists and spread holiday cheer to the city's children. There are also small trees available at the market today, and a live green wreath will be raffled off every hour.
Next Thursday is the last Salem Farmers' Market for 2012, so stop by and stock up on holiday greens and cider, artisan breads, local produce, meats, and cheeses. Vendors, 18 total for the Winter Market, come from as close as the other side of the city, neighboring North Shore communities, and as far away as Maine. A full list of vendors can be found here.
Taza Chocolate of Somerville, which crafts stone ground, Mexican-styled chocolates, will also be on hand for the last two weeks of the market.
