The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Sunday and Monday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Sunday, December 9
4:45 p.m. Police responded to First Street on a report of identity fraud. The victim told police that the IRS notified him that he was being audited, and he learned that there was an identity fraud occurring. He is an acquaintance of the possible suspect.
5:52 p.m. Police responded to a report of assault on New Derby Street. A male party and a female party, who is well known to officers, both claimed to have been punched in the face by one another. Both were advised to stay away from each other, and both were told they may seek a complaint in district court.
8:40 p.m. An unlocked bicycle was reported stolen from the East India Mall.
10:14 p.m. Walk-in report of breaking-and-entering to a motor vehicle. Victim related that he parked his vehicle on Peabody Street with the door unlocked and the motor running and went inside Brisas Del Caribe. When he came out he found his CD player and registration were taken.
Monday, December 10
1:41 p.m. Police responded to a report of a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road on Highland Avenue and Traders Way. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle.
2:03 p.m. Police responded to a report of a road rage incident in the area of Harbor Street and Prince Street. One vehicle had left prior to arrival. Female party reports the other vehicle was a white truck (no make, no plates). She reports the driver threatened her and she believed he had a handgun because he kept his hand in his pocket.
3:19 p.m. Police responded to a report of a car fire on Fort Avenue. A red Jeep Cherokee was engulfed in flames. Fire department was on scene.
Roland Biqiku, of 22 Warren Street, Peabody, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
James J. Jodoin, of 47½ Prospect Street, Gloucester, was arrested on the basis of three warrants.
Michael Vasquez, of 10 Leavitt Street, will be charged with shoplifting.
