The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Tuesday and Wednesday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Tuesday, December 4
4:17 p.m. Police assisted the fire inspector on Cross Street with a past malicious damage report.
4:46 p.m. Party came into the police station to report that her father's 2005 Toyota RAV4 was stolen sometime after 10 p.m. last night while it was parked on New Derby Street.
5:02 p.m. Party came into the police station to report larceny. She stated that over the past week she has noticed that many items have turned up missing from her home on Fort Avenue. She believes a house guest may have taken them, while her boyfriend believes a neighbor may be involved.
5:59 p.m. Police took a report of a past assault on Derby Street.
6:34 p.m. Police took a report of a hit-and-run at Washington and Lafayette Street.
Wednesday, December 5
4:51 a.m. Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Barnes Road. Party reported that he saw a large flash outside his house. He went to the window, and saw another flash, as in from a camera, and an older model, black Jeep driving away. He was unable to get a plate number and did not know why anyone would be taking pictures of his house.
9:17 a.m. Police responded to a report of a male party jumping in the road and yelling on Bridge Street. Party was gone on arrival.
10:00 a.m. The owner of Scratch Kitchen made a complaint to the mayor's office regarding illicit activity on the side of the South Harbor Garage where he places his trash for pickup. It is littered with glass and signs that people are drinking there, and there is graffiti on the exterior walls, some old and some that appears fresh.
1:50 p.m. Female party reports that her bike was stolen sometime between December 1 and today. She states that she had the bike chained to a pole in the area of Broadway and Canal Street. When she went to get it, the bike was gone, and so was the pole.
4:11 p.m. Police tool a report of a past assault on Everett Road.
