The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Wednesday and Thursday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Wednesday, Nov. 7
4:32 p.m. Police took a walk-in report of a money order scam.
6:31 p.m. Traffic lights at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Traders Way were reported out.
7:11 p.m. Based on disturbance-related activity at 5 Palmer Street, police contacted the owner as he was identified as a keeper of a disorderly house. He was fully cooperative and willing to address the recent issues. All the problem tenants have been placed on notice, and the Community Impact Unit will continue to monitor the activity at this location and work with the owner.
7:12 p.m. Police responded to a report of burglary to a motor vehicle at Salem Fitness on Swampscott Road.
10:06 p.m. Police responded to First Street on a report of four vehicles racing and drifting. Police checked the area and were unable to locate any vehicles being driven in an erratic manner.
Thursday, Nov. 8
6:29 a.m. Police notified National Grid of an electrical outage in the areas of North Street and Essex Street.
7:11 a.m. Traffic lights were reported out at the intersection of Bridge Street and Washington Street.
9:54 a.m. Police responded to a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle at the intersection of Northend Avenue and North Street.
10:18 a.m. Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run on Loring Avenue.
11:19 a.m. A manager at the Starbucks on Washington Street reported that a tip jar was stolen from the counter of the business. She stated the jar had less than $100 inside. Suspect described as a white male, approximately 6-feet tall with dark hair and dark eyes.
Christopher Mathieson, of 300 Sumner Street, East Boston, will be charged with assault and battery.
Keith W. McClearn, of 268 Lafayette Street, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
David Kilama Okeny, of 111 Broadway Street, Salem, will be charged with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute, and possession with intent to distribute in a school zone.
Jessen W. Reddy, of 18 Marlborough Road, was arrested on the basis of three warrants.
