The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Wednesday and Thursday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Wednesday, Oct. 3
4:05 p.m. Police took a walk-in report of fraud/identity theft.
5:15 p.m. Police responded to a call from the Red Lion Smoke Shop on Washington Street where an employee related that a customer, described as a white male approximately 5-feet, 6-inches tall, attempted to use a stolen Eastern Bank Credit Card to purchase two packs of cigarettes and a lighter. He was denied and left the store. Police searched the area with negative results.
5:32 p.m. Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run with property damage at Highland Avenue and Swampscott Road. Investigation to continue.
7:50 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Derby Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a grey Mercedes-Benz ML320 SUV stuck on top of the center island at the intersection of Derby and Congress Street. Operator related that while turning left from Hawthorne Boulevard onto Derby he accidentally hit the island. He stated that he never saw the island.
9:02 p.m. Police responded to a report of a drug offense at North Shore Medical Center. Security related that they found drugs on a patient. After an investigation, police will apply for a warrant for Michelle Forgione for possession of a Class B substance (cocaine).
Thursday, Oct. 4
3:04 a.m. Police responded to a report of a possible drunk in the roadway on Fort Avenue. On arrival, police located a highly intoxicated male party lying in the road. He was placed into protective custody.
9:16 a.m. Police responded to a report of burglary on Federal Street. A female party reported that she returned home from work last night and found a change jar missing from her bedroom. She stated she generally keeps the back door unlocked so her kids have access to the apartment. She also discovered two gold chains, a sapphire ring, and cubic zirconia rings missing out of a jewelry box.
11:15 a.m. Police responded to a report of two males trespassing and possibly drinking in a backyard on Harbor Street. After investigating this incident, Barry Bullock was placed under arrest and will be charged with trespassing.
Maryah R. Cushing, of 116 Lafayette Street, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
Crystal Smith, of 12 Palmer Street, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
