The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Sunday and Monday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Sunday, August 5:
4:03 p.m. Police responded to a fight at 323 Jefferson Avenue.
4:32 p.m. Police responded to a report of a possible sinkhole at 150 Canal Street.
7:34 p.m. Police responded to a burglar alarm at 96 Swampscott Road. Upon arrival a side door was slightly open, but there were no signs of forced entry, or anyone going through the office or any other part of the building. Alarm company unable to contact building manager. Alarm silenced and building secured.
9:57 p.m. Police responded to a report of a bat inside a home on Hathorne Street.
Monday, August 6:
7:40 a.m. A police cruiser hit a passing car while pulling out of the police station parking lot.
8:23 a.m. Police responded to a report of breaking and entering to an RV parked in the rear of Boston Street. A male party reported he found a man sleeping in the RV, and when confronted the suspect ran out of the RV and hid under a U-Haul truck. When the reporting party turned to call police, and when he turned back the man was gone. Nothing stolen or missing from the RV.
12:32 p.m. A female party reported vandalism to a motor vehicle parked on Roslyn Street.
3:18 p.m. Police responded to an electric fire at 331 Lafayette Street. Salem Fire notified.
Joseph Leonard Crasco, of 56 Margin Street, was arrested for trespassing.
Joseph Lane, of 36 Grant Place, Waltham, was arrested for illegal possession of a Class E substance, violating the city knife ordinance, and violation of DPW rules and regulations.
