Two days after Thanksgiving, on Saturday, November 24, the annual holiday tree lighting in Adams Park will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Caroling, free hot chocolate, an opportunity to visit with Santa, and a brass band providing live music, are all part of the festivities.
Beginning on November 29, the Roslindale Village Holiday Wander, which runs Thursday evenings through December 20, kicks off. More than two dozen of the independent shops, restaurants and salons in the neighborhood welcome customers with special events, sales and entertainment. Musicians will stroll around the village singing holiday favorites each week from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., a new addition this year.
If you do attend the wander on the 29th, take note of the decorated storefronts. Many businesses participate in a city-wide holiday display contest. You can pick up a ballot and vote for your favorite at the Roslindale Village Main Street office on Corinth Street between 5 and 8 p.m.
Something many kids---and their parents---look forward to is the one of two times a year the Bay State Model Railroad Museum opens its doors to the public. On December 2, in conjunction with a visit from Santa, the museum holds its annual open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
