The US Navy's famed Blue Angels stunt-flying team will be conducting two flights over Boston today, both of which should be visible in Quincy.
Pilots will doing the tests in order to familiarize themselves with the area before performing aerial shows during the Boston Navy Week War of 1812 bicentennial celebration this Forth of July in conjunction with the Boston Harbor Fest.
The two aircraft will be visible from Quincy’s Wollaston Beach, Quincy police said, when they fly over Boston at 12:30 p.m. this afternoon.
The patriotic flair is fitting, as the War of 1812 was the first time the United States was threatened on its own soil. The battle inspired Francis Scott Key’s first edition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
