A North End anti-drug group has announced an event this weekend that will commemorate the victims of the recent shooting in Newtown, Conn.
North End Against Drugs welcomes all to attend a candlelight vigil in honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The vigil will take place at 6 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Nazzaro Community Center at 30 North Bennet Street.
The North End Music and Performing Arts Center will perform a musical tribute to the victims, and students from the nearby North Bennet Street School have created 26 angel figures representing the 20 children and 6 adults killed at the Connecticut school on Dec. 14.
Roseann Romano has donated journals where vigil attendees may write messages to Newtown residents. Romano and Rosina Fabbo will deliver the journals to the Connecticut town.
Starbucks will supply hot chocolate, and 1-800-Flowers will donate carnations, according to a statement released by the anti-drug group.
