The sentencing of former Newton teacher David Ettlinger for his involvement in a global child pornography network has been postponed until Jan. 8, according to federal court documents.
Ettlinger, who had taught in the Newton Public Schools for 12 years until his arrest last January, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of engaging in a child exploitation enterprise. He was supposed to be sentenced this past week, but due to scheduling conflicts the date was moved, his attorney Jennifer Culotta said in an e-mail.
Ettlinger faces 20 years to life in prison for participating in Dreamboard, an on-line child pornography bulletin board where members were required to post their own pictures.
Ettlinger also faces state charges of alleged indecent assault on three girls. Prosecutors accuse Ettlinger of taping the incidents. None of the girls were his students. He had pleaded not guilty to the state charges.
