Locals are invited to the Chabad Jewish Center's annual public menorah lighting ceremony on the Needham Town Common next month to celebrate Hanukkah, organizers announced.
The celebration will be Dec. 2 -- the sixth night of Hanukkah -- at 5:45 p.m.
Attendees can watch as the menorah is carved out of hundreds of pounds of ice, and then is lit at 6:15 p.m. After the kindling, there will be music, dancing, donuts and hot apple cider.
The event is part of the Chabad's Hanukkah outreach campaign, where thousands of Chabads throughout the world are staging similar public displays of lighting the menorah, organizers said.
