Needham's Greene's Field will have an official ribbon-cutting ceremony this Sunday to celebrate the re-opening of the park's playground, which was closed due to safety concerns in 2010.
The new playground features play areas for both little and older children, and will replace the structures that were deemed unsafe and shut down in 2010.
The playground reconstruction is part of a larger Greene’s Field revitalization project, which includes renovating the basketball court, building a walking path and new landscaping. The project is being paid for with $445,000 in town Community Preservation Act funds; another $100,000 was privately raised, according to project supporters.
The Nov. 3 playground ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the playground. Anyone driving should park on Pickering Street, organizers said.
