Handout from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
The steel frame of the new Beth Israel Deaconess cancer and surgical hospital in Needham was finished this week, leading local and medical officials to hold a celebration for the milestone as the project nears completion.
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham are collaborating on the project.
"The completion of the building’s steel frame signals an exciting new beginning for the hospital and the community," officials said in a statement. "The tree and American flag placed on top of the building symbolize growth and is said to bring good luck to the building and to those in it."
