Olympic medalist Aly Raisman is scheduled to visit Pollard Middle School, 200 Harris Avenue, on Friday to speak to students about the risks of underage drinking and to promote healthy lifestyle choices, according to a press release.
Raisman is an ambassador for Ask, Listen, Learn, a multimedia program targeted to middle school-aged students who pledge to say "YES" to a healthy lifestyle and "NO" to underage drinking.
Two sessions will be held, one at 9 a.m. and the next one at 10 a.m., with the attendance of 420 students at a time.
“Aly wanted to come to her home town and bring the program to the Pollard Middle School because her younger sister, Chloe, is a student there,” said Tyler Allen from The Century Council, a national non-profit dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking, that put together this event.
Lisa Chen, principal of Pollard Middle School, and Ralph Blackman, president and CEO of The Century Council, will also speak at the event.
Following the speakers, the middle schoolers will take part in interactive games that teach them about making healthy lifestyle choices and underage drinking while engaging them in physical activity, said Allen.
