The Chabad Jewish Center in Needham will celebrate Purim – the miraculous escape of the Jewish people from the ancient Persian Empire – with a Wild West themed party on Sunday, Feb. 24 – and everyone, from all backgrounds, is invited.
“We focus on doing interesting and innovative holiday programs while still keeping with the holiday traditions,” said Rabbi Mendy Krinsky in a press release about the event. “This party will combine ancient Jewish traditions with a modern twist.”
Purim is celebrated by exchanging food between friends and giving charity to the poor, according to the release. It features a traditional festive meal and the reading of the story of Purim.
The party will add entertainment by Brenner Family Magic, with western-themed tricks; a masquerade in Western attire or a costume of your choice, music and traditional Purim dessert Hamentashen.
Anyone interested in attending should RSVP by Feb. 17. Tickets are $18 for adults, $10 for children aged 3-12, or $54 per family. Sponsorship is $180.
