Applications for Needham’s new liquor licenses that will allow package stores to open in town became available on Monday, but the town has not yet had any applicants, according to Town Manager Kate Fitzpatrick.
“We have no applications yet,” she said. “We have one person who came and talked to us.”
The town voted last November to allow the retail sale of alcohol, which will allow package stores to open for the first time in the historically dry town.
Needham is now allowed six liquor license, and will get an extra two in 2018. No more than six at a time will permit the sale of all-alcohol.
The open period for applications will run until 4 p.m. on Jan. 18.
