Bentley University sophomore guard Greg Jacques, who starred at St. Sebastian’s in Needham, scored a career-high 19 points in his first career start last Sunday to lead the Falcons to a 54-50 victory over Southern New Hampshire.
‘‘Greg puts a lot of pressure on other teams with his ability to penetrate and he’s also a legitimate 3-point threat,’’ said Bentley head coach Jay Lawson, whose team was 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference going into Wednesday’s game at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
The 5-foot-9 Jacques came into his own last season during the Falcons’ run to the NCAA Division 2 semifinals, averaging 6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 14 minutes in five postseason games.
Jacques was a two-time basketball captain at St. Sebastian’s, and led the Independent School League in scoring as a junior.
