The cofounder of a program that uses DNA to reunite families torn apart by the Holocaust will give a free presentation at a temple in Needham this Sunday, according to a press release.
Syd Mandelbaum will talk about the DNA Shoah Project, which is building a global database to match displaced relatives, at Temple Aliyah at 1664 Central Ave. from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The project aims to help survivors and descendents find each other and provide orphans with information about their families.
If the database reaches a certain size, it could help governments in Europe identify remains from the Holocaust, the release said.
Those interested in contributing their DNA can do so with painless a cheek swab during the talk. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.dnashoah.org.
