Natick police are searching for this bandit, who posed as an auditor before robbing the Citizens Bank on Main Street last weekend.

Natick police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who posed as a corporate auditor before robbing a bank on Main Street this weekend of close to $4,000 including foreign currency, according to the FBI.

Police said the man, who is about 6 feet 6 inches tall, walked into Citizens Bank on Main Street in Natick Saturday morning, flashing a badge and telling employees that he was an auditor under corporate security.

He wheeled a small carry-on sized suitcase behind him, and began a friendly banter with the Citzens Bank workers, said Natick Police Lt. Brian Grassey.

"He showed them some credentials, and he was very savvy with what he needed to know and ask for," Grassey said. "He presented well on the onset of their encounter."

However, as the conversation progressed, bank workers realized that some of what the suspect was saying did not add up, and that there were some anomalies in the conversation.

"At some point he realized his ruse was no longer working, so then he announced, 'You’re getting robbed,' and said he had a gun," Grassey said.

However, authorities said the suspect never actually brandished a gun.

The man was wearing a toupee, which he told bank employees was because he had cancer, according to the MassMostWanted web site. MassMostWanted He also had a cloth wrapped over his right arm -- possibly to hide a tattoo or cast, Grassy said -- and made away with the cash.

"This style of bank robbery is unique -- he seemed to be aware of banking procedures," Grassey said.

Police said the man weighed about 225 pounds, had a black scraggly goatee, was wearing glasses with transition lenses, and had a healed scare in the shape of a "7" below his left eye.

Police think the man may also have had a slight limp, but noted that might have been from the suitcase he was toting. He fled on foot, turning right outside of the bank towards the railroad tracks, according to the FBI.

Anyone with information is urged to call Natick police at 508-647-9520.
