Local nonprofit Natick Center Associates, Inc. will hold its annual fundraising dinner on Sunday, March 25 at the Dolphin Seafood Restaurant, according to event organizers.

The non-profit organization partners with the town of Natick and collaborates with community groups to maximize the public and private value of the Natick Center, organizers said.

The annual Heart of the Community Award to recognize individuals or an organization for outstanding service to the Natick community will be awarded to married couple Denise Girardin and Steve Levinsky.

Both Girardin and Levinsky are artists who own a Natick studio. Levinsky creates fused and slumped glass sculptures; Girardin works with ceramics, beading, collage and recycled art.

Levinsky, a retired Fidelity Investments worker, has been heavily involved in the Natick community throughout his lifetime, event organizers said.

He chairs Natick’s Personnel Board, is a Town Meeting member who frequently serves on special town committees, is president and chairman of The Center for the Arts in Natick, serves on the Natick Service Council Advisory Board, and led an override effort to fund a new community center.

Girardin participates in The Locks and Keys Project, a yearlong public art project, and volunteers within the Natick Public School system. She is a teacher at the Natick Senior Center and has volunteered to work at election polls.

Girardin regularly coordinates group donations to the Natick Service Council, and is an original member of the Natick Artists Open Studios, a group of 70+ artists, and consistently aids in organizing their yearly event.

Last year, she was responsible for "Art on The Common," a community art project that attracted more than 100 adults and children.

Artie Fair, Natick Center Associates president, said the couple represents the quality found in Natick citizens and their concern for the community.

"Both Steve and Denise are both assets to this town and Natick Center," Fair said. "They bring a vibrancy to the Arts Community that is so prevalent in Natick, and serve the Town in so many ways."
